Hanwha Q CELLS Solar Module Apartment Wins Grand Prize at Energy Saving Competition

[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] An apartment equipped with Hanwha Q CELLS' solar modules won the grand prize at the Energy Saving Competition.

On the 24th, Hanwha Q CELLS announced that 'Sinjeong I-Pen House Complex 5,' which was supplied with solar modules, won the grand prize in the apartment category at the '2019 Energy Saving Competition' held by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Energy Saving Competition has been held since 2013 to promote a low-energy consumption culture through energy saving, production, and efficiency improvement.

The rooftop solar power plant at Sinjeong I-Pen House Complex 5, installed in 2018 by Hanwha Q CELLS as part of the Korea Energy Agency's solar rental project, has a capacity of 240 kilowatts peak (kWp) and saves more than 50 million KRW annually in electricity bills.

The solar rental project involves rental businesses like Hanwha Q CELLS, selected by the Korea Energy Agency, installing and renting solar equipment to households and multi-family housing, with consumers paying a portion of the saved electricity bill as rental fees.

Rental businesses provide free after-sales service during the 7-year contract period, and after the contract ends, ownership of the equipment is transferred to the consumer free of charge.

Hanwha Q CELLS has been selected as a solar rental business for five years since 2014 and has installed solar power systems in more than 5,100 multi-family housing units and houses to reduce electricity bills to date.
