Early Containment of Community Spread through Extensive Disinfection of Religious Facilities... Recommendations for Residents to Wear Masks, Provide Hand Sanitizers, and Distribute Promotional Materials During Religious Events
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will conduct extensive disinfection of religious facilities in the area starting from the 24th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
Following a series of infection cases through religious facilities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, the district plans to carry out thorough disinfection of religious facilities where many people gather to quickly block the spread within the community.
To ensure residents' safety, the district requested about 394 religious facilities, including Christian, Buddhist, and Catholic institutions, to take strict preventive measures during religious events, such as ▲encouraging residents to wear masks ▲providing hand sanitizers ▲distributing promotional materials on preventive guidelines.
Gwanak-gu has established a Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to proactively respond to the spread of COVID-19, concentrating all response capabilities on ▲operating screening clinics ▲providing 24-hour consultation hotlines ▲installing thermal imaging cameras ▲disinfecting public multi-use facilities.
Moreover, as new phases arise with cases where the cause and route of COVID-19 infection are difficult to identify in some areas, the district plans to continue even more thorough disinfection and preventive activities.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “We will do our utmost to prevent the spread within the community by conducting thorough disinfection focused on living environments closely related to residents, such as religious facilities, traditional markets, and multi-use facilities,” and urged, “We also ask residents to comply with preventive measures such as wearing masks and washing hands for safety, and to promptly contact the health center (879-7133) if suspicious symptoms occur.”
