Gyeonggi Fire Department to Invest 30.2 Billion Won in Welfare This Year... 8.4 Billion Won to Be Expended Early

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will invest a total of 30.2 billion KRW this year to create the nation's top-level welfare environment for firefighters. The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters has already executed 8.4 billion KRW, which is 28% of this year's budget, early to revitalize the local economy.

The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 23rd that it plans to invest a total of 30.266 billion KRW in four areas, including employee welfare support, this year.

Key support projects include ▲ operation of customized childcare facilities outsourced to the private sector ▲ subscription to group insurance ▲ allocation of selective welfare points ▲ improvement of employee cafeteria environments.

In particular, 380 million KRW will be invested in customized childcare facilities outsourced to the private sector to support childcare gaps caused by commuting and emergency duties of dual-income firefighters.

Additionally, insurance coverage supporting 16 items of work-related injuries for firefighters will be significantly increased this year, with 200 million KRW for line-of-duty deaths and 500 million KRW for dismissal due to work-related reasons.

Furthermore, about 330 million KRW will be spent to improve the cafeteria environments of jurisdictional fire stations and 119 safety centers. Previously, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters increased the selective basic welfare points by 200,000 KRW compared to last year and pays them in Gyeonggi local currency.

Lee Hyung-cheol, head of the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, emphasized, "Until recently, we have executed early 8.4 billion KRW, which is 28% of the welfare budget allocated this year, to revitalize the local economy. We will do our best to improve the health management and better welfare environment of firefighters working for the residents."
