Non-Politician 2040 'Sidaejeonhwan' Party Founded: "Monthly Basic Income of 300,000 Won for Everyone"

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] 'Sidae Jeonhwan,' a political movement led mainly by non-politician members in their 20s to 40s, will hold its founding convention on the afternoon of the 23rd.

Sidae Jeonhwan announced that Kim Jong-in, Chairman of the Korea Development Strategy Institute, Shin Ji-ye, former Co-Chair of the Green Party, and National Assembly member Chae Yi-bae will attend as guests to officially celebrate the founding.

They have completed the establishment of party branches in five metropolitan cities and provinces including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Jeonnam, and plan to complete the founding of the central party on the day and proceed with the party registration process at the National Election Commission.

Lee Won-jae, co-representative of Sidae Jeonhwan, who advocates for the realization of "a basic income of 300,000 KRW per month for every citizen," said, "Encouraging innovation and challenge without institutional safeguards to overcome the fear of failure is a form of social 'passion pay.'" He added, "Basic income is the 'kingpin' (the central pin in bowling that can knock down multiple pins at once) leading the economic structural transformation amid job disappearance and a shaken social safety net."

Also, Cho Jeong-hoon, co-representative of Sidae Jeonhwan who built expertise as an economic development specialist at the World Bank, emphasizes "good neighbor theory first" in inter-Korean relations. He diagnoses that the current government's North Korea policy, which prioritizes emotional approaches over cold judgment and response to international affairs, has failed. Cho said, "We must move away from a one-sided pro-North Korea policy that only causes internal conflicts and work toward building a peace regime through practical cooperation and strengthened communication."

Earlier, on the 12th, Sidae Jeonhwan announced the 'Basic Income National Assembly Declaration' together with the Basic Income Network, Basic Income Party, and Green Party, followed by the 'Regulatory Reform Joint Declaration' with the Regulatory Reform Party Preparatory Committee.

Meanwhile, Sidae Jeonhwan stated that it plans to actively cooperate with the government's quarantine policies by minimizing attendance at the founding convention and replacing it with an online live broadcast. They will actively prepare against possible virus infections by deploying medical personnel for fever checks, providing hand sanitizers, and using microphone covers.
