[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is promoting the '2020 Apartment Co-living Project,' which aims to solve daily living problems occurring within apartment complexes through collaboration between residents and social economy organizations.

The 'Apartment Co-living Project' focuses on discovering inconveniences and issues within apartment communities and encourages residents and social economy organizations to gather ideas and independently resolve them.

Along with enhancing the capabilities of participating social economy enterprises, the project also supports local residents to engage as consumers, investors, and entrepreneurs within the social economy.

The project provides support for up to three years per complex. In the first year, it focuses on 'community formation and value sharing' by identifying daily living problems and solving them through social economy initiatives. It supports the formation of self-help groups based on communal consumption such as care services, healthcare, and food. Throughout all processes, professional coordinators assist from forming resident groups to execution and commercialization.

In the second year, support is provided for establishing resident-led social economy enterprises centered around idle spaces within the complex. The core is forming an economic community by institutionalizing living services utilizing the social economy. In the third year, a virtuous cycle system is established where profits generated through the project are reinvested to create local services, linking with local resources (small business owners, shops, etc.) to create jobs for vulnerable groups and solve social problems, aiming to develop a sustainable social economy model.

This project is open to resident groups of five or more members living in apartment complexes with over 150 households. These groups must apply to the Seongbuk-gu Office Community Division by March 6, after approval from the apartment residents' representative meeting or consent from the representatives.

Support is provided for up to three years per complex, with annual funding flexibly allocated based on project plans, outcomes, and progress stages. Selected complexes will undergo annual extension reviews to evaluate project performance and continued support. This year, around 20 complexes across Seoul will be selected, with support up to 60 million KRW per complex.
