[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] One new case of COVID-19 was confirmed each in Daejeon and Sejong.

According to Daejeon City on the 22nd, A (female, 23) was diagnosed with COVID-19 around 9 p.m. the previous day in Daejeon.

A resides in Seoul and reportedly traveled to a friend's house in Daegu on the 13th, then moved to a friend's house in Dong-gu, Daejeon on the 18th, where she was diagnosed positive.

The city found that before the diagnosis, A had mild fever and rhinitis symptoms starting on the 18th, purchased painkillers and antipyretics at a pharmacy in Daegu, taking them three times a day, but did not visit any medical institution.

A is currently hospitalized in an isolation ward at a general hospital receiving treatment without any notable symptoms.

The issue is that when A had a fever on the 18th, she visited the Dong-gu Public Health Center in Daejeon and was placed under self-quarantine but violated quarantine rules by frequently going out.

In response, Heo Tae-jeong, mayor of Daejeon, said, “We are currently conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation and contact tracing. Once A’s detailed movements and contacts are identified, we will immediately disinfect and close the visited locations and monitor the self-quarantine of contacts.”

The first COVID-19 case also occurred in Sejong.

The confirmed case is a man in his 30s who visited the Sejong City Public Health Center on the 21st to request a COVID-19 test and was finally confirmed positive on the morning of the 22nd.

At the time of the test request, the man reportedly said, “I recently visited Daegu and may have had contact with a confirmed case.” However, the city explained that it has not yet confirmed whether this man is related to Shincheonji.
