Due to COVID-19 Impact, Government Public Hearing Held 'Online'

[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Ministry of Science and ICT will hold an online public hearing on the 25th to establish the government's research and development investment direction and criteria for next year.

This is an important public hearing to set the R&D investment direction, which serves as the standard for each ministry's R&D budget requests for the following year and is used as a key guideline for R&D budget allocation and adjustment.

Due to the recent spread of COVID-19, the government decided to hold this public hearing online. By accessing the public hearing channel via PC or mobile, participants can watch the hearing live through internet live streaming. Q&A will also be conducted through an online bulletin board. The government stated that holding the public hearing online has made it easier for interested parties to participate.

The government will review and reflect on the opinions from this public hearing and the results of consultations with related ministries to determine the R&D investment direction for next year. After deliberation and resolution by the Steering Committee under the National Science and Technology Advisory Council (chaired by the President), the direction will be notified to relevant agencies by March 15.
