Samsung Electronics unveiled the new foldable phone Galaxy Z Flip, the first half strategic smartphone Galaxy S20 series, and the next-generation wireless earphones Galaxy Buds Plus at the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event held in the United States on the 11th.
The Galaxy S20 series consists of the practical Galaxy S20, the standard Galaxy S20 Plus, and the premium Galaxy S20 Ultra, and was introduced as a model that significantly differentiates itself from its predecessor in display size, camera, battery, and more. The displays feature sizes of 6.2, 6.7, and 6.9 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate, adopting the Infinity-O design.
The refresh rate refers to the number of images shown per second, and in the case of the Galaxy S20 series, the increased number of images per second allows for a smoother screen experience. Additionally, in collaboration with Google, it supports Full HD quality Google Duo video calls.
The AP is equipped with the Snapdragon 865 processor, 12GB of RAM, and storage options of 128/256GB. Following the camera performance, the notable feature is the large-capacity battery: 4,000mAh for the Galaxy S20, 4,500mAh for the Galaxy S20 Plus, and 5,000mAh for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The standard and Plus models support 25W fast charging, and with a separately purchased charger, the Galaxy S20 Ultra supports 45W fast charging.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra model is equipped with a 108-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 48-megapixel telephoto camera, and a depth vision camera. Based on these capabilities, it supports 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. To emphasize these specs, the phrase "100X" is designed below the rear camera module.
Regarding Samsung Electronics’ gifts for the Galaxy S20 series, instead of offering a free gift of either the Galaxy Home Mini or the Nemonic Mini along with the second-generation Galaxy Buds, a discount sale of 99,000 KRW has been set. Meanwhile, consumers are turning their attention to online retailers that provide the benefit of giving the upgraded Galaxy Buds Plus free of charge rather than the Galaxy Buds at a higher price.
On the Naver cafe ‘HotBusPhone,’ support is provided for the purchase cost of the Galaxy Buds Plus to help customers acquire them for free, and additionally, price discounts of up to 300,000 KRW are offered to reduce the device price burden. Furthermore, inventory clearance of the Galaxy S10 series is underway, selling the Galaxy S10e as a so-called ‘free phone,’ gaining popularity. Promotions are also being held where the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus can be purchased starting from the 90,000 KRW range, resulting in consumer segmentation between the Galaxy S20 pre-orders and the Galaxy S10 series price reduction events.
The cafe offers ‘Yoichi 3in1 Cable’ and ‘Sterilizing Charging Stand’ to customers who pre-order the Galaxy S20 series, and the pre-order with various benefits closes on the 26th. Additionally, customers who write reviews can receive a ‘Starbucks Tumbler.’
