[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City announced on the 21st that it will promote the 2020 private sector electric vehicle and two-wheeler distribution project.

This year, the total number of electric vehicles to be distributed is 84 units, including 60 passenger cars (including ultra-small cars), 4 small cargo trucks, and 20 two-wheelers. Subsidies will be provided up to 15.4 million KRW for electric passenger cars (6.4 million KRW for ultra-small cars), 25.2 million KRW for electric cargo trucks, and 3.3 million KRW for electric two-wheelers.

Eligibility for application requires individuals to have had their resident registration address continuously in Mokpo City for more than 6 months as of the application date and be at least 18 years old. For sole proprietors and corporations, the business location and the representative’s resident registration address must be registered in Mokpo City prior to the application date.

Applicants wishing to receive purchase subsidies must first sign an electric vehicle purchase contract and then submit a subsidy application form through the ‘Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System’ following the guidance of the vehicle dealership.

The subsidy application period starts from the 24th and continues until the budget is exhausted. Applicants who have no disqualifications after submission and are granted eligibility will be selected as final recipients after a subsidy confirmation process within 10 days of vehicle delivery.

A Mokpo City official stated, “As fine dust issues have become serious recently, interest in electric vehicles is increasing day by day, so we expect many applicants,” and added, “Please make sure to carefully review the application procedures and precautions stated in the announcement to avoid any disadvantages due to mistakes.”
