Assemblyman Son Geum-ju Announces Pledge for Mutual Development of Original Downtown Area

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Son Geum-ju, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Jeonnam Naju·Hwasun, National Assembly Budget and Accounts Special Committee, Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Affairs Committee), announced on the 21st a campaign promise for the win-win development of the original downtown area centered on urban regeneration that preserves culture and history intact to improve residents' quality of life.

Representative Son promised win-win development of the original downtown through urban regeneration projects harmonizing tradition and modernity, development of residential areas and creation of cultural streets in the Yeongsanpo district, restoration projects of the millennium city Naju's historical culture, restoration of old cultural assets such as the Naju Fortress walls, creation of youth cultural and artistic streets, introduction of shuttle buses between KTX Naju Station and the original downtown and within the original downtown, expansion of Local Road No. 822 (Nampyeong~Neungju), expansion of access roads, and expansion of parking lots for traditional markets and tourist sites.

Son Geum-ju stated, "The core of balanced urban development is coexistence," adding, "Through restoration of valuable resources such as historical and cultural assets, urban regeneration including education, childcare, and residential environment, and revitalization of local commercial districts, we will definitely create a historical and cultural city harmonizing tradition and modernity, an original downtown where youth return and people visit."

Meanwhile, through the 20th National Assembly, Representative Son has continuously strived for regional development by attracting a total of 138.98 billion KRW for agricultural and fishing village development projects and urban regeneration New Deal projects, securing budgets for the Yeongsan River Mahan cultural zone survey and research project, and attracting a small business support center and Jeonnam Youth Startup Academy.
