Korea Toyota Donates 150 Million KRW to Korea Para Table Tennis Association

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Toyota Motor Korea announced on the 21st that it held a sponsorship agreement ceremony to support the development of para table tennis and the improvement of athletes' skills by sponsoring 150 million KRW this year to the Korea Para Table Tennis Association.

Toyota Motor Corporation has been serving as the main sponsor of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) since 2015, and inspired by sportsmanship, it announced the global tagline "Start Your Impossible," meaning to overcome limits and challenge the impossible.

Toyota Motor Korea's sponsorship of the Korea Para Table Tennis Association is a social contribution activity started as part of the "Start Your Impossible" campaign, providing 100 million KRW annually since 2018 for expenses such as participation in various competitions and training for para table tennis athletes.

This year, especially to strengthen support for national team athletes participating in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, the sponsorship amount was increased by 50 million KRW on the 20th to a total of 150 million KRW, bringing the cumulative sponsorship to 350 million KRW.

Nobuyuki Takemura, President of Toyota Motor Korea, said, "We support the para table tennis athletes' challenge against the impossible," and added, "I sincerely hope that the efforts of the national team athletes at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics held this year will bear good fruit."

Meanwhile, Toyota Motor Korea has three para table tennis players on its team, among whom player Im Gyu has already secured qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
