Han Jung-woo, the Blue House Chuncheon Press Secretary, informed reporters via text message that "President Moon is scheduled to receive an emergency briefing on COVID-19 response from the Prime Minister and others around 9 a.m. today." The briefing will be attended by Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, Minister of the Interior and Safety Jin Young, Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo, and Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Noh Hyung-wook, among others.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Chung is expected to announce related measures around 8 a.m. at the expanded Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH). There is also a possibility that the crisis alert level will be raised following discussions during the emergency briefing. As of the previous day, South Korea's confirmed COVID-19 cases have exceeded 100, ranking third after China and Japan. Additionally, the first death among confirmed cases has occurred, heightening the sense of crisis.
