[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Amid growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in the community due to a surge in confirmed cases, Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is actively responding to the spread of COVID-19 by urgently hiring 15 temporary workers to supplement the insufficient healthcare personnel at the Geumcheon-gu Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
The recruitment targets include 7 personnel for the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center screening clinic (1 doctor, 3 nurses, 3 other support staff) and 8 disinfection workers, totaling 15 people.
Applicants must be at least 19 years old and in good physical health as of the interview date (scheduled for February 27). Doctors and nurses must hold the relevant licenses.
Disinfection workers will be given preference to Geumcheon-gu residents and those with experience in disinfection work.
The application period is from the 20th to the 25th. Those wishing to participate can download the application forms from the ‘Notices & Announcements’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website (www.geumcheon.go.kr), fill them out, and submit in person: ‘Screening clinic personnel’ to the Job Creation Division on the 9th floor of Geumcheon-gu Office, and ‘Disinfection workers’ to the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center’s 4th floor Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
The district will conduct a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews, announce the final successful candidates on the Geumcheon-gu Office website around the 28th, and notify them individually.
The final successful candidates will perform infectious disease-related tasks at the screening clinic, such as classifying suspected patients and collecting specimens, as well as disinfection duties from March 2 to May 31 for three months. The working period may be extended depending on the COVID-19 response situation.
Working conditions are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., five days a week. Including meal and hazard allowances, doctors will receive a daily wage of 208,000 KRW, nurses 116,000 KRW, other support staff 84,000 KRW, and disinfection workers 82,456 KRW. Weekly holiday pay and annual leave pay are paid separately, and enrollment in the four major social insurances is mandatory. Specific working days and hours will be negotiated and adjusted according to circumstances.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “By hiring temporary workers to supplement the insufficient healthcare personnel, we will make every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” adding, “As the coronavirus rapidly spreads recently, we will further strengthen the response system to protect the safety and health of our residents.”
On the 17th, quarantine workers from the Geumcheon-gu Regional Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters are conducting disinfection work at the Geumcheon-gu Citizen Culture and Sports Center located in Doksan 4-dong.
