[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 20th that it signed a business agreement with Save the Children at the main office's business room for the 'School Play Environment Improvement Project.'
This agreement was prepared for the two organizations, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and Save the Children, to create a school environment where all children in Jeonnam can play freely and to establish a culture that guarantees children's right to play.
The two organizations agreed to cooperate on ▲ creating school play spaces and workshops for making playgrounds involving children ▲ parent education to improve awareness of the right to play ▲ consulting and administrative support for creating eco-friendly school play spaces ▲ project monitoring ▲ campaigns and promotions.
According to this agreement, the Provincial Office of Education will select one target school for playground creation next month in connection with the Jeonnam School Space Innovation contest project, and Save the Children will create the school play space through student participatory design.
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong said, “The basic direction of Jeonnam Office of Education, ‘Innovative Jeonnam Education where everyone is precious,’ aligns with Save the Children’s founding principle of protecting children's rights without discrimination of race and borders,” and added, “I hope that beyond creating an environment where children can play freely, they will develop the ability to play on their own and live happily.”
Yu Hye-young, head of Save the Children’s Western Branch, said, “We have been continuously supporting projects for children in Jeonnam, such as the construction support project for the local children's center in Imja-do, Sinan,” and suggested, “Let us cooperate to create school play spaces and guarantee children's right to play, and expand educational projects for parents and school staff to protect children's rights.”
