The Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Park Joo-young) announced on the 20th that it sentenced A (47) to 9 years in prison on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc. (rape of a minor under 13 years old) and other charges.
He was also ordered to complete an 80-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from employment at child and youth-related institutions for 7 years.
The court stated, "The defendant continuously molested his stepdaughter, whom he should have protected and disciplined like his own child, and in the process, he used his position as the head of the household and his economic power," adding, "The crimes continued over 13 years, from when the victim was under 10 years old until her twenties, which is against human decency."
It continued, "The victim, who endured alone from a young age for the peace of the family with a mother who had experienced divorce, suffered serious damage to her body, mind, and soul," and explained the sentencing by saying, "The victim appears to have endured pain that is difficult to describe, and she is pleading for severe punishment of the defendant."
