[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Kim Byeong-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 20th that starting after the conclusion of the 21st National Assembly election to be held in April, he will expand the on-site resident communication platform, ‘Civil Complaint On-Site Confirmation Day,’ to be held more than twice a month, strengthening meetings with residents.
The reason for postponing the expansion of ‘Civil Complaint On-Site Confirmation Day’ to mid-April is due to Article 86 of the Public Official Election Act, which restricts holding and sponsoring events such as civil complaint consultations that may influence the election, sports competitions, and senior citizen events from 60 days before the election day.
Accordingly, Mayor Kim Byeong-nae plans to avoid this period and visit civil complaint sites in the district on April 23, openly discussing various inconveniences arising in daily life with residents and deriving solutions to the complaints.
Mayor Kim said, “I do not intend to limit on-site communication targets only to various civil complaint occurrence sites. Through broad communication with people from diverse social strata, I plan to gain vivid ideas for the development of Nam-gu and share thoughts on district administration.”
Meanwhile, since March last year, Mayor Kim has been conducting ‘Civil Complaint On-Site Confirmation Day’ once a month as part of on-site communication, and so far, he has visited 54 civil complaint sites over 16 sessions, seeking solutions through dialogue with residents.
A total of 97 civil complaints raised by residents have been recorded, of which 60 have been resolved and 27 are in progress.
Additionally, six cases such as requests for traffic light installation or facility installation within schools required cooperation from related agencies and were referred to the respective institutions, and four cases where project promotion was impossible due to disagreements among residents were decided not to be pursued.
