15-Minute Call with Jeong Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, to Discuss COVID-19 Spread Response Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the morning of the 20th, President Moon Jae-in pledged government support related to the "novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19)" during a phone call with Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu.
Yoon Jae-kwan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, explained, "President Moon spoke with Mayor Kwon Young-jin of Daegu for 15 minutes around 11 a.m. today. After listening to the situation in Daegu, the President said the government would spare no support and encouraged the Mayor of Daegu and all related personnel who are fully committed to responding to COVID-19."
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that 31 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed that morning, bringing the total number of confirmed domestic cases to 82. The additional confirmed cases were mainly concentrated in the TK (Daegu and Gyeongbuk) region, centered on Daegu.
Meanwhile, after speaking with the Mayor of Daegu, President Moon also had a 15-minute phone call with Jung Eun-kyung, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Deputy Spokesperson Yoon said, "Along with words of encouragement, they discussed future response measures."
