[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 19th that it will conduct a "School Violence Task Force Capacity Building Training" for 23 dedicated officers in charge of school violence at the Jeonnam Women's Family Foundation and Jeonnam Education Research Information Center until the 28th.

This training was prepared to enhance the expertise of recently selected dedicated officers responsible for school violence prevention and case handling at the Education Support Offices, as well as general administrative staff.

Due to the partial amendment of the "Act on the Prevention and Countermeasures of School Violence" last year, city and county Education Support Offices are required to establish School Violence Countermeasure Committees and support personnel for school violence prevention and case handling tasks.

Accordingly, the Provincial Office of Education plans to strengthen capabilities through ▲ understanding laws related to school violence ▲ understanding school violence prevention and case handling ▲ understanding restorative life education ▲ practical training on the formation of dedicated organizations and review procedures ▲ practical training on school violence reconciliation and mediation.

Additionally, to ensure stable operation of the review committees, training for committee chairpersons will be conducted regionally on the 20th and 21st, and committee training for each Education Support Office will continue until the end of this month.

In particular, school violence case handling focuses on restoring relationships between victims and perpetrators rather than punishment. To support this, reconciliation mediation support teams have been formed in 22 Education Support Offices, and the Provincial Office of Education is conducting mediation through a conflict mediation support team.

Kim Seong-ae, Director of the Student Life Safety Division, said, "The roles of the committee chairpersons and dedicated officers in the Education Support Offices' School Violence Countermeasure Committees, which will operate from next month, are very important," adding, "Through this training, we will strengthen the capabilities of support personnel and reduce school workload so that students can have a safe and happy school life."
