(Hwasun Scholarship Foundation) Scholarship Applications Open Until the 6th of Next Month

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] The Hwasun Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 19th that it will accept applications for the 'Hwasun Scholarship,' which supports nurturing outstanding local talents and providing equal learning opportunities, from the 24th of this month to the 6th of next month.

To apply, both the student and their parents (legal guardians) must have continuously registered their residence in the county for more than one year as of the announcement date, and applications can be submitted at the administrative welfare centers of the applicant's town or township.

However, elementary, middle, and high school students must be enrolled in schools located within the county, while university students may apply even if their residence is in another region.

The number of selected recipients is 50 elementary school students, 40 middle school students, 40 high school students, and 70 university students.

The support amount per person is 300,000 KRW for elementary students, 500,000 KRW for middle school students, 1,000,000 KRW for high school students, and 2,000,000 KRW for university students, with a total of 200 recipients receiving 215 million KRW.

Elementary, middle, and high school students are recommended through the selection committee of their enrolled school based on selection criteria, while university students are directly reviewed by the scholarship foundation and finalized by the board of directors.

University students are selected as scholarship recipients in three categories: academic excellence, special talents, and welfare.

In particular, 38 welfare scholarship students will be selected, and applicants must have a household income within 100% of the median income, with a monthly health insurance premium payment of 160,540 KRW or less (based on workplace subscribers, combined for parents in a family of four) to be eligible.

Meanwhile, the Hwasun Scholarship Foundation has been leading local talent development through its scholarship projects every year, having awarded scholarships totaling approximately 1.46 billion KRW to 1,613 recipients so far.

A foundation official said, "Thanks to the support of many donors, about 10.6 billion KRW has been raised in the scholarship fund, enabling stable scholarship projects," and added, "We hope many students will apply for the Hwasun Scholarship, which supports providing equal learning opportunities."

For more details, please check the county office website or contact the general affairs department of the county office or the administrative welfare center of your town or township.
