Bong Joon-ho Praises Yoo Se-yoon and Moon Se-yoon as Geniuses... High Praise for Parody Video

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Director Bong Joon-ho praised comedians Yoo Se-yoon and Moon Se-yoon for their parody of acceptance speeches.

The cast and crew of the movie Parasite attended an official press conference held on the morning of the 19th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.

On this day, Director Bong said, "I watched the parody video by Yoo Se-yoon and Moon Se-yoon," adding, "The two are truly geniuses. I respect them. They are the best entertainers."

Earlier, on the 18th, Yoo Se-yoon posted several photos with Moon Se-yoon on his Instagram with the phrase "Parodysite (parody site)."

In the released photos, Yoo Se-yoon and Moon Se-yoon parody the acceptance speech scenes of Director Bong and interpreter Sharon Choi, who participated in the "Oscar campaign." The photos can also be seen as videos on Yoo Se-yoon's YouTube channel.

Moon Se-yoon, dressed like Director Bong with similar clothing and hairstyle, and Yoo Se-yoon, imitating Sharon Choi with a notebook and glasses, mimicked their speech and actions exactly, bringing laughter.

They parodied Director Bong’s acceptance speech for Best Director at the 92nd Academy Awards, as well as director Martin Scorsese’s words, "The most personal is the most creative."

Moon Se-yoon, dressed as Director Bong, said, "When I was young, there was a phrase I always kept in my heart: 'The most personal good jeotgal is Gijang changnanjeot (fermented seafood).' Who said that? Kang Ho-dong, Lee Young-ja, and Lee Yong-sik," mentioning the names of senior comedians.

Then Moon Se-yoon imitated Director Bong’s acceptance speech at the Critics' Choice Awards last January, where Bong said, "Now I will go down and finish eating the half-remaining vegan burger."

He added, "By the way, is there a ○○○○ (burger brand) nearby?" which caused laughter.

When Director Bong directly mentioned the two at the press conference, Yoo Se-yoon posted on his Instagram along with the video of Bong’s press conference, saying, "I am truly honored. I really respect you."
