Support for 43 Exhaust Emission Reduction Devices, 148.65 Million KRW Invested
Applications Accepted by Climate Ecology Department from 20th to 28th This Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do supports the installation of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) on old diesel vehicles to create a dust-free Yeosu.
On the 19th, Yeosu City announced plans to invest 148.65 million KRW to support the installation of 43 diesel particulate filters.
The eligible vehicles are diesel vehicles registered as emission grade 5 since 2001, and must have been continuously registered in Yeosu City as their primary place of use since before December 31, 2019.
Depending on the vehicle type, owners must pay between 372,000 KRW and 1,032,000 KRW, which is 10 to 12.5% of the device price, to install the filter.
Selected applicants must operate the vehicle with the installed diesel particulate filter for two years, and removal of the device is only allowed after approval from Yeosu City. Maintenance by the device manufacturer (cleaning, call monitoring, etc.) is required.
In particular, if the vehicle is scrapped or the filter is removed within two years of installation, part of the subsidy must be returned. Also, vehicles that receive support for installing diesel particulate filters are not eligible for early scrapping subsidies, so caution is advised.
Citizens who wish to participate in the program can visit the Climate Ecology Division or send the required documents by registered mail from the 20th to the 28th.
Detailed information including the application form can be found on the Yeosu City website under Notices and Announcements.
A city official stated, “Emission grade 5 vehicles are restricted from operation during high-concentration fine dust emergency reduction measures, but vehicles equipped with diesel particulate filters are allowed to operate,” and added, “We hope many citizens with old diesel vehicles will participate for a blue sky free of fine dust.”
