Chinese Government Promotes Relief Supplies Support Through Consultation
Leaving behind the fading Year of the Pig (Giheonyeon), Made in Korea export goods are waiting to be loaded onto Korean Air cargo planes at the Incheon International Airport cargo terminal, ready to be shipped worldwide. Despite prolonged US-China trade conflicts and Japan's export restrictions, which have cast a shadow over the domestic and global economic outlook, there is hope that Made in Korea products will spread across the world in the new year. [Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that relief supplies supported by local governments, companies, and private organizations for the Wuhan area in China will be delivered through a temporary cargo flight deployed to Wuhan on the 19th.
So far, the government has transported emergency relief supplies from Korean private organizations to Wuhan via temporary flights supporting the return of Korean nationals staying in Wuhan, as part of public-private cooperation.
This time, the supplies include those previously announced by the ‘Chinese Study Abroad Alumni Association’ and the ‘Chinese Wuhan University Alumni Association,’ as well as support items provided by our local governments and companies such as Chungcheongbuk-do, POSCO, and the Seongju Foundation.
Additionally, under the total $5 million China support plan, the government is promoting relief supply support to various regions in China, including Chongqing City, Shanghai City, Anhui Province, Zhejiang Province, and Jiangsu Province, through consultations with the Chinese government. In this process, the domestic supply situation of relief supplies is being fully considered, and mainly face shields, medical gloves, and spray-type disinfectors are being supported.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "The joint public-private support gathered by the government, companies, and private organizations is expected to be a great help to the Chinese government and people who are striving to overcome the spread of COVID-19, and also contribute to securing the safety of our citizens."
