A Comprehensive System Covering Everything from Vacancy Status to Number of Fire Extinguishers
Improving the Current Dispersed System to Enhance Housing Supply and Disaster Prevention Policy Planning
Seoul City "Plans to Decide on Implementation After Gathering Expert Opinions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is pushing forward with the establishment of a comprehensive architectural and housing information system that covers everything from the presence of vacant houses to the number of fire extinguishers. The aim is to improve the current system’s problem of dispersed information across various platforms and to efficiently formulate policies related to housing supply, disaster prevention, and energy saving.
According to Seoul City on the 19th, the city is considering building a "Comprehensive Architectural and Housing Information System" that integrates architectural information scattered across various platforms. This system will encompass housing inventory information such as the presence of vacant houses and the distinction between residential and office use in officetels, residential environment information such as the number of rooms and heating methods, safety information including fire extinguishers and finishing materials, as well as spatial information of buildings.
The current system has the problem of architectural and housing-related information being dispersed across various platforms such as Seumter, Housing Supply Management Statistics System (HIS), and Rent Home. When creating related policies, it is difficult to identify the information-holding institutions, content, and retrieval methods one by one, making it challenging to provide customized information. The city expects that through the comprehensive architectural and housing system, it will support efficient policy formulation and provide administrative services related to housing supply, disaster prevention, and energy saving in a timely manner.
A representative from the Seoul Housing and Architecture Headquarters said, "We are creating a system where various architectural and housing data can be viewed at a glance," adding, "Currently, we are in the strategic planning stage and will finalize whether to proceed after gathering expert opinions."
Seoul City is expected to build the new system by updating the architectural and housing data warehouse it currently operates independently. To this end, it plans to link systems such as HIS, the 119 Administrative Information System, and the Facility Information Management System (FMS) to secure various data. According to Seoul City, the new system will allow the identification of information related to goshiwon (small lodging houses), officetels, expected completion dates, management office personnel, and the management status of communal housing facilities such as apartment complex amenities. The city is also considering enhancing functions for querying housing supply and demolition volumes, as well as adding features for inspection and management of construction stages at construction sites and checking building safety inspection histories.
A representative from the Seoul Housing and Architecture Headquarters said, "Just as people are managed through the resident registration system, it is time to manage architectural and housing assets in an advanced way by securing general statistics," adding, "We will improve the efficiency of policy makers’ work by providing accurate information that reflects reality."
