Kim Myung-gun, CEO of Kumho Housing, Donates Scholarship to Chonnam National University


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Myung-gun, CEO of Kumho Housing Co., Ltd. (Director of the Mongolian Cultural Center in Korea), donated 5 million KRW as a scholarship for Mongolian international students at Chonnam National University.


On the 18th, according to the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Han Sang-won, Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae), the scholarship award ceremony was attended by Jeong Byeong-seok, President of Chonnam National University, CEO Kim Myung-gun, Kim Jae-gyu, Chairman of the Citizen Participation Committee of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, and other officials.


CEO Kim Myung-gun stated, “I hope this scholarship will encourage international students studying in our region, inspire their academic motivation, and serve as a stepping stone for them to grow into outstanding talents.”


President Jeong Byeong-seok said, “Thank you for your continuous interest and support for scholarships for international students, not just as a one-time event. This will greatly help international students become future talents for both countries.”


Meanwhile, CEO Kim Myung-gun, who has always been at the forefront of helping underprivileged neighbors, also donated 30 million KRW in 2015 as a fund for the construction of the Koryoin Village Support Center.


Additionally, through warm sponsorship activities such as supporting development funds for local universities including Chonnam National University, Honam University, and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), joining as the 83rd Honor Member of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, and supporting the Gwangju Disabled Persons Association, he received the ‘Happiness Sharing Award’ in the social category at the ‘2018 1st Honam People Who Shined Awards’ hosted by the Korea Journalists Association Gwangju-Jeonnam Chapter in December 2018, the ‘Model Taxpayer Award’ from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in March 2019, and the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Management Award (Gwangju Mayor’s Award)’ in December last year.
