[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-gi] A man in his 30s who threatened and stabbed a police officer guarding the Blue House with an awl was arrested by the police.
The Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced on the 18th that Mr. A was caught in the act and is under investigation on charges of obstructing official duties. According to the police, Mr. A is accused of stabbing two police officers from the 101 Security Unit in the waist with an awl in front of the West Gate guard post of the Blue House at around 8:20 a.m. that day.
It was confirmed that Mr. A attempted to enter the Blue House Reception Hall area, where public access is restricted, but was stopped by the police. A police official stated, "We are verifying Mr. A's exact identity and investigating the circumstances of the incident."
