On the 18th, the 12th Criminal Division of Ulsan District Court (Chief Judge Kim Gwan-gu) announced that A (66), who was charged with violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes (habitual threats), violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), and obstruction of official duties, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
The court stated the reason for sentencing: "Despite being punished multiple times for drunk driving and violent crimes, he committed the same crimes again, and also threatened a supermarket employee with a dangerous object, which shows the severity of his offenses."
A was charged with verbally abusing employee B while intoxicated at a supermarket in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, in August 2019, causing a disturbance, grabbing the collar of a police officer who responded to the report, and assaulting the officer’s chest once.
In the same month, he reportedly entered another store, threatened employee C with farming tools, and later returned to threaten to kill him.
Additionally, despite having his motorbike license revoked after being punished four times for drunk driving, A operated a motorcycle while in a state of severe intoxication with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.146%.
