[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeonnam announced on the 18th that it will make every effort to revitalize the local commercial district, including a campaign to use restaurants within the county, to support local businesses struggling due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on the 17th.

On this day, Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol and officials used Wando Sarang Gift Certificates to dine at local restaurants as part of a consumption promotion campaign aimed at revitalizing the local commercial district, which has been depressed by the novel coronavirus.

Wando County plans to implement various policies to revive the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.

First, the monthly purchase limit of the local currency, Wando Sarang Gift Certificates, will be raised from 500,000 KRW to 800,000 KRW for individuals, and the semi-annual purchase limit for corporations will be increased from 5 million KRW to 8 million KRW. Additionally, to alleviate the economic burden on local small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, support for loan guarantee fees and additional support for loan interest subsidies will be provided.

Furthermore, campaigns such as using local restaurants for lunch, dining out with family, and shopping at traditional markets will be led by public officials to set an example, and efforts will be made to create an atmosphere where all residents participate in supporting the local commercial district.

Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, sales at local stores have sharply declined, causing difficulties,” and added, “We will strive to lead public officials in alleviating excessive anxiety and revitalizing the local commercial district,” urging residents to also participate.
