[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Actress Lee Sang-ah, who has been divorced three times, shared her opinion on marriage, saying, "If there is a brake during the marriage process, you should not get married."
Lee Sang-ah appeared as a guest on the SBS Plus variety show 'Kim Soo-mi's Do You Eat?' aired on the 17th and said, "I have been married three times, and all three marriages had brakes," she said.
She continued, "Even the first time, after sending out the wedding invitations and with only a week left, the man said we shouldn't get married."
Regarding her second marriage, she said, "I remarried just one year after my first divorce. At that time, I married with calculation. Because the first marriage failed, I wanted to show those around me, 'Marry someone decent, wealthy, and well-off.' During the preparation process, I planned to have a child with this person quickly."
She added, "I got pregnant, but the premarital pregnancy was first revealed by the media. I cried a lot at the wedding. We divorced right after our daughter's first birthday party. I felt the first birthday party should be preserved in photos," she recalled.
When Kim Soo-mi asked, "Was it so bad that you divorced?" Lee Sang-ah replied, "Our marital relationship was bad at the time of divorce. I had co-signed a guarantee. Back then, I co-signed to try to live well. The debt was about 700 to 800 million won. I even received threatening calls in the past. I have paid off the debt."
She continued, "Later, I lost everything including food, clothing, and shelter. When I tried to move and packed my belongings, I had no place to go, so I left my things at a moving company. I thought it would take a month, but it took six months. My husband, as the head of the household, couldn't provide food, clothing, and shelter. I prepared for divorce because of his irresponsible behavior. I didn't even receive child support," she added.
Regarding her third marriage, Lee Sang-ah said, "From the beginning, I had a vision for marriage. I wanted to give my daughter a stepfather when she was young. I thought she could live with her dad forever. At that time, he was a man who helped me when I was struggling. I was grateful. I thought I could rely on such a man."
However, she revealed that they separated due to debt. Lee Sang-ah said, "The third time, we separated because it became difficult later. The debt kept increasing. Every time I got married, it increased, so I wondered what this was. During the third marriage, I was seriously scammed. We lived together for 13 years. I tried to maintain the marriage, but we often fought," she said.
Lee Sang-ah also tearfully shared, "When I first divorced, I once made an extreme choice."
Kim Soo-mi said about Lee Sang-ah, "I think Seo Jeong-hee and Lee Sang-ah have the most actor-like faces after Kim Ji-mi," and asked, "Why did you suddenly get married during your popular days?"
Lee Sang-ah answered, "We dated for about four months, but somehow it became fate, and we got married. On the day I was invited to my ex-husband's parents' house, they suddenly got injured, so I went to visit them in the hospital. Then suddenly, the words 'You two should get married' were exchanged, and the marriage proceeded rapidly. It felt more like fate than love strong enough to want to get married," she replied.
Kim Soo-mi comforted her, saying, "You need money to live from now on. From now on, don't think about anything else and focus on making money. Go on any show if you get invited. Take good care of your meals. From now on, speak about your past confidently. Don't be intimidated by it," she said.
