[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Won Hee-ryong, Governor of Jeju, who joined the United Future Party as a Supreme Council member, stated on the 17th, "I will support young politicians as a symbol of innovation."
After the Supreme Council meeting that day, Won said to reporters, "My agreement to join as a Supreme Council member symbolizes our intention to raise our voices regarding various reformist movements."
He added, "As the Governor of Jeju, I am unable to engage in election campaigning or participate in election organizations due to election laws," and "Once the campaign headquarters system is fully established, I will not interfere in routine matters nor intend to do so."
Won also said, "Young groups and moderate reformist groups are participating, and I will do my best to support them so that they are not only used as faces during unification but later buried due to various factional relationships within the party," adding, "The Supreme Council will minimize workload by participating only in cases requiring its resolution according to party rules, ensuring no overlap with provincial administration."
