The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow warning for Seoul, Pyeongtaek, Anseong, Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island on the same day. A heavy snow warning is issued when the accumulated snowfall is expected to exceed 5 cm within 24 hours. Prime Minister Chung said, "Due to the drop in temperature, freezing is expected, so take preemptive snow removal and ice control measures," and urged, "The Ministers of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare should thoroughly manage vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and residents of jjokbangchon (small room villages) by inspecting cold wave shelters and windbreak facilities in preparation for the cold wave."
He further instructed, "The Director of the Korea Meteorological Administration should provide accurate weather information to the public in real time so that citizens can prepare for heavy snow and cold waves."
