[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] An employee of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Automobile Safety Research Institute was found dead by hanging inside the research institute in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, prompting a police investigation.
According to the Hwaseong Western Police Station on the 14th, at around 3:10 PM the previous day, facility management employee A (61) was found dead by hanging in the maintenance workshop within the research institute.
A, who worked in facility management, was converted to a regular employee in 2018 under the Moon Jae-in administration's public institution regularization policy, and even after retiring last year, continued to work under one-year contract renewals.
The police are currently investigating the exact cause of death based on a suicide note found at the scene. A police official stated, "This is a case of suicide, not an accident during work," and added, "We are investigating the reasons for the suicide."
