[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Korean-American author Jenny Han, who wrote the original novel for the Netflix original film To All the Boys I've Loved Before, revealed an anecdote about meeting director Bong Joon-ho's son.

On the 11th, Jenny Han posted on her Twitter, "Last summer, I visited Korea for the filming of Always and Forever, Lara Jean (the third installment of To All the Boys I've Loved Before)," and said, "Traffic congestion in downtown Seoul was severe, so we spent a lot of time chatting inside the car."

She said, "At that time, a young man was assigned as our personal secretary and driver," and added, "On the first day, I kept talking about Director Bong, explaining how he would win an Oscar for the film Parasite. I also talked about the movie Okja for about 30 minutes."

She continued, "The secretary asked me, 'Is Director Bong famous in the U.S.?' and I replied, 'He is currently the most famous Korean director.' At that time, we were passing Bongunsa Temple, and since the secretary's last name was also 'Bong,' we joked, 'There are a lot of Bongs around here today.'"

Jenny Han said, "By the end of the day, our conversation turned to 'What do your parents do?' He answered, 'My mother is a housewife, and my father is a film director.' I don't know why I asked a question I usually dislike, but anyway, I asked him, 'Is there any work I might know?'"

She added, "He paused for a moment and then answered, 'Mother' and 'Memories of Murder.' I was so surprised that I screamed and called him a traitor," explaining the situation at the time.

She said, "Hyomin is a film director as talented as his father," and added, "I invited him to the premiere of P.S. I Still Love You (the second installment of To All the Boys I've Loved Before), and despite being busy with Oscar-related matters, he came to the premiere."

Finally, Jenny Han added, "Anyway, Hyomin and Director Bong are truly amazing. I love Korea."

The post attracted attention, receiving over 10,000 likes on the day it was posted.

Earlier, on the 9th (local time), Director Bong won four awards at the Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film.
