‘Dog President’ Kang Hyung-wook Hosts ‘DaengDaeng Run 2020 Seoul’

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The dog president Kang Hyung-wook leads the dog marathon ‘DaengDaengRun 2020 Seoul,’ where participants run with their beloved dogs, which will be held on April 19 at Peace Park in Sangam, Seoul.

The event is hosted by trainer Kang Hyung-wook and 1986 Production.

According to 1986 Production on the 11th, the ‘DaengDaengRun 2020 Seoul’ event will feature various activities that both dogs and their owners can enjoy together as a marathon.

The ‘SeonbalDaeng’ participants, who compete for ranking, will start first, and 20 minutes later, the ‘HubaalDaeng’ participants, who enjoy the course while walking, will start.

A return course is also prepared for participants who find the 5 km course burdensome. Dogs on the course can participate in the Olympic-style ‘Daenglympics.’

After completing the course, an awards ceremony and an after concert will be held, and participants can also join a lucky draw event to win many prizes.

There will also be a ‘DaengDaeng Talk Show’ where participants can ask trainer Kang Hyung-wook any questions they have.

As this is a festival visited by many dogs, there are rules everyone must follow to ensure safety and to be recognized even by non-dog owners.

The leash length is limited to 2 meters, and retractable leashes are prohibited. If a dog shows any threatening behavior toward people or other dogs, it must wear a muzzle.

Also, only one dog per guardian is allowed to participate.

Tickets can be purchased on ‘Melon Ticket.’

Yoon Myung-ho, CEO of 1986 Production, said, “Since the first event in 2017, many dogs have participated without any major incidents,” and added, “We hope this event will be an opportunity to show how mature and developed Korea’s dog culture has become, as guardians properly manage their dogs and follow the established rules during the event.”
