[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Actor Lee Yi-kyung mentioned his father, who was a former executive of a large corporation.
On the 8th, Lee Yi-kyung appeared on JTBC's variety show 'Knowing Bros' and addressed rumors that he was the son of a chaebol, saying, "My father was the CEO of an L Group affiliate," and added, "After dropping out of school, I never asked my father for money."
When broadcaster Lee Soo-geun asked, "Is broadcasting your hobby? Can you refuse to receive your father's wealth?" Lee Yi-kyung replied, "I am confident," and said, "I already told my father that he should spend the money he earned, and I will live well on my own."
He also added, "Since I was 18, I have earned money myself," and "I have never received even one won from my father."
Lee Yi-kyung's father, Lee Woong-beom, president of Yeonam Technical College, previously served as president of LG Innotek and LG Chem affiliates.
It is known that Lee Woong-beom once opposed Lee Yi-kyung becoming an actor. In a past interview, Lee Yi-kyung revealed, "I earned money for acting academy fees by working part-time jobs and debuted."
