The total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in Japan rises to 89
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Three additional confirmed cases have been identified on the Japanese cruise ship 'Diamond Princess,' where a large number of novel coronavirus (Wuhan pneumonia) infections have occurred.
On the 8th, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced that three passengers aboard the Diamond Princess tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Accordingly, the total number of infected passengers has increased to 64 since the cruise ship docked off Yokohama Port on the 3rd.
Previously, Japanese authorities collected virus test samples from 279 people among approximately 3,700 passengers and crew, including the initial infected Hong Kong resident who had contact with others or showed symptoms such as fever and cough.
Test results for 273 of the subjects were received, confirming 41 infections as of the previous day, and among the remaining six, three more were classified as infected on this day. One of the confirmed cases with pre-existing conditions is reported to be in serious condition.
Meanwhile, as of the morning of this day, the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in Japan reached 89, including 64 passengers aboard the Diamond Princess.
