[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] It was reported on the 4th that Ki Sung-yueng, who terminated his contract with Newcastle United and became a free agent (FA), is highly likely to return to the K League after 10 years.

Ki Sung-yueng has received offers from the Middle East and China but is considering a return to the K League, with Jeonbuk Hyundai being the most likely destination.

Ki Sung-yueng returned to Korea on the 3rd and is reportedly discussing salary and contract duration with Jeonbuk Hyundai.

Earlier, on the 31st of last month, Ki Sung-yueng mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Newcastle about six months before its expiration.

Newcastle announced on their official website, "We inform you that Ki Sung-yueng has left the club," adding, "We thank him for his contributions and wish him luck in the future."

Ki Sung-yueng also said, "It was an honor and a joy to play for a great club like Newcastle. I regret not doing better," and added, "There were often things in football that I could not overcome," bidding farewell.

Ki Sung-yueng received a salary of 2.08 million pounds (approximately 3.2 billion won) at Newcastle. There are not many domestic teams that can meet these conditions.
