Seoul Gangseo-gu Implements Continuous Reservation System, Deploys 10 Cultural Tourism Guides... Monitors Satisfaction Surveys to Understand Tourist Needs

Start of Travel with Cultural Tourism Guide

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is promoting a healthy tourism culture and strengthening tourism capabilities through cultural tourism interpreters.

The district, the first autonomous district to do so, opened an integrated reservation system linked with the district office website from the 10th, and will officially start walking tours accompanied by cultural tourism interpreters from March.

The cultural tourism interpreters, newly trained last year under the Tourism Promotion Act, consist of 10 people specialized in interpreting Gangseo-gu's tourism resources.

There are three courses: the Heo Jun Museum course centered on historical figures, the Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum course, and the Gaehwasan Dulle-gil course focused on the natural environment, providing professional cultural interpretation services to domestic and international tourists.

There is no separate tour fee, but admission fees for museums and art galleries are borne by the visitors.

Anyone can make a reservation by simply clicking the cultural tourism interpreter reservation button on the Gangseo-gu Office cultural tourism website from the 1st of the previous month up to 7 days before the departure date.

Cancellations can be made online before the interpreter is assigned or by phone.

Additionally, the reservation system includes monitoring such as satisfaction surveys, and a survey will be conducted the day after the tour with applicants to promote better cultural tourism interpretation.

The district also plans to promote various projects and strategic marketing so that tourists visiting can remember hidden tourist attractions and cultural resources through storytelling.

Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “We have assigned cultural tourism interpreters who have completed formal training courses to provide professional interpretation services to tourists visiting the district,” and added, “We hope you listen to the hidden and attractive stories of Gangseo with professional cultural tourism interpreters.”
