[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The 8th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) has been reported in Malaysia.
On the 30th (local time), Malaysian health authorities announced, "With one additional case, the total number of confirmed patients has increased to 8, all of whom are Chinese nationals."
The 8th confirmed patient diagnosed on this day is a 49-year-old female tourist, the wife of the 52-year-old male who was the 7th confirmed case. Previously in Malaysia, a family of four consisting of a grandmother, daughter-in-law, and two children, a 40-year-old Chinese tourist, and a 4-year-old girl were confirmed cases.
The Malaysian government decided on the 27th to temporarily ban the entry of Chinese nationals from Hubei Province, where Wuhan City is located, to prevent the spread of Wuhan pneumonia. Following this policy, on the 28th, a total of 14 Chinese passengers from Wuhan arriving at Kuala Lumpur Airport were denied entry and sent back.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian government is in talks with China to dispatch a transport plane to bring back 78 Malaysians stranded in Wuhan City.
