[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus is strengthening content for middle-aged and senior customers through its internet (IP) TV service 'U+tv'.
On the 30th, LG Uplus announced that it will expand the programming of 'U+tv' to include highly popular TV programs, health and exercise, and financial information, which are major interests of the 'Active Senior' (the 5060 generation with time and financial leisure who are actively engaged in social activities). This reflects the results of a survey conducted from May to July last year with 4,000 customers, which showed that the interests of those aged 50 and above were health and exercise (49%), travel (39%), and household finance including savings, stocks, and real estate (39%), in that order.
First, as content targeting middle-aged and senior viewers, unreleased video-on-demand (VOD) footage of the trot audition program 'Mr. Trot' will be made available. These videos feature each participant filmed exclusively from the start to the end of their performance. For health-related content, home fitness content starring fitness model Yoon Da-yeon will be produced and provided as VOD starting March 5. Additionally, in partnership with the 'BTN Channel,' meditation content for mental and physical health will be introduced from February 28. Furthermore, information related to financial technology, one of the three major interests of active seniors including real estate, tax saving, and economic trends, will also be provided.
Moon Hyun-il, head of LG Uplus IPTV product division, said, "Customers can easily find and watch content they want to see, focusing on the interests of active seniors such as health, travel, and financial technology," adding, "We plan to continue discovering IPTV services that provide both enjoyment and learning."
