Patent-Protected Probiotics Using a Blend of 3 Korean Yakult Strains

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Korea Yakult, a leading company in probiotics, launched the ‘Gut Care Project MPRO3 (hereafter MPRO3)’ in February last year, focusing on gut health.

MPRO3 is a combination of the M from microbiome and the PRO from probiotics, referring to three types of probiotics (HY8002, HY2782, HY7712).

This product was developed over four years of extensive research. It combines capsule-form probiotics and liquid-form prebiotics in one bottle. By consuming probiotics and prebiotics, which serve as food for lactic acid bacteria, together, the functionality of gut health products has been upgraded to a new level.

MPRO3 is made using patented lactic acid bacteria that mix three types of probiotics from Korea Yakult. Joint research with the Korean Society of Surgical Metabolism and Nutrition confirmed that consuming these probiotics can help promote the growth of beneficial bacteria and suppress harmful bacteria. Another feature is that the probiotics are encapsulated to enhance safety and preservation. The dual-cap design allows for easy consumption together with the liquid.

The liquid contains 1000 mg of lactulose powder, a representative prebiotic. Lactulose powder is an individually recognized ingredient certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, which can help promote the growth of beneficial bacteria and suppress harmful bacteria. Additionally, Korea Yakult’s proprietary technology blends 9800 mg of dietary fiber, equivalent to that found in three apples, and 3850 mg of oligosaccharides to enhance functionality.
