Dokdo Label Bohae Bokbunja Wine, First Export to France

Dokdo Label Bohae Bokbunja Wine, First Export to France

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Team, reporter Park Seon-gang] Bohae Brewery (CEO Lim Ji-seon) announced on January 29 that it will export Bokbunja-ju with a Dokdo label to France for the first time.

Bohae plans to introduce 6,000 bottles, equivalent to one container, not only to Koreans living in France but also to local residents.

In October last year, Bohae Brewery launched a Dokdo campaign together with Professor Seo Kyung-duk, a Korean PR expert from Sungshin Women’s University. Bohae attached a Dokdo label featuring phrases and graphics promoting Dokdo as Korean territory to its Bohae Bokbunja-ju, which is exported to 24 countries including those in Europe.

The Dokdo label includes the phrase “Dokdo, the first place of sunrise in Korea” along with illustrations of the island and seagulls symbolizing Dokdo.

News about the Dokdo-labeled Bokbunja-ju, initiated by Bohae and Professor Seo Kyung-duk, has drawn significant attention both domestically and internationally.

When Professor Seo shared information about the Dokdo campaign and photos of the product on his social media account, about 8,000 people liked the post and around 200 comments were posted. Koreans living in Europe and the United States expressed great interest, asking where they could purchase Bohae Bokbunja-ju with the Dokdo label.

As Bohae Bokbunja-ju has been recognized by netizens as “Korea’s representative liquor” and “a drink that promotes Korea and Dokdo,” the number of countries importing Bokbunja-ju is expected to increase further.

Additionally, a local French company has shown interest in the Dokdo campaign and is in discussions for additional exports, raising expectations for increased sales.

Park Chan-seung, head of the PR team, said, “Bohae Bokbunja-ju is Korea’s representative liquor, loved enough to be exported to 24 countries worldwide even without special marketing abroad. As Koreans around the world have shown strong support for the Dokdo campaign to promote our territory overseas, we expect to export to even more countries this year.”
