[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Samsung C&T Fashion Division's contemporary casual brand MBIO announced on the 29th that it will launch its first spring season collection featuring practical and simple styles.
This season's concept was inspired by lenticular images, where shapes appear differently depending on the viewing angle. Rather than pursuing a fixed style through a single item, it proposes a practical style that freely crosses boundaries.
Depending on personal needs, the hooded jumper can be worn as an outer layer over a T-shirt or layered inside a trench coat, and the shirt can be worn as an inner layer or as a light outerwear piece.
In particular, MBIO incorporated its minimal yet unique sensibility to release the trench coat in two styles: tailored and field jacket.
The tailored single trench coat features a perfectly fitted shoulder and waistline to create a clean yet natural silhouette. Signature details such as pentagonal flap pockets add interest to the basic style.
The field jacket trench coat uses a semi-over fit and a natural-feeling cotton-nylon blend fabric to achieve a more casual yet minimal look.
Additionally, styles that can be worn lightly as jacket substitutes from the transitional season to early summer were introduced, including a hooded jumper with horizontal seam stitching and front pockets, a shirt that can be used as outerwear, and comfortable yet trendy ivory trucker jackets.
MBIO, known as a so-called ‘pants specialty’ brand, also released various pants products such as slacks, chino pants, and banding pants developed through independent pattern research.
In addition to MBIO’s signature tapered fit, a new basic fit pant was introduced. While the tapered fit offers a relaxed silhouette comfortable even for those with thicker thighs, the basic fit expresses a slimmer thigh line that fits the body well.
Following this first spring season collection, MBIO plans to release the second and third collections on the 5th and 24th of next month, respectively. Additional items will include semi-over fit open shirts, seam-detail sweatshirts, and tapered basic fit denim pants, focusing on black, gray, and blue colors.
