"Our Current Goal Is to Judge This Administration's Right and Wrong"

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, stated on the 28th, "The continued detention of former President Park Geun-hye is not what the people desire."
On the same day, Hwang appeared on the YouTube channel 'Shinuihansu' and said, "I have personally told President Moon Jae-in several times that 'leniency is now necessary. It is a time for national unity.'" He added, "(Former President Park) has been detained the longest among all former presidents."
He continued, "However, this administration is not responding (to the release of former President Park)," and said, "Whenever there is an opportunity, I will emphasize that a decision at the level of national unity is needed regarding the excessive criminal sanctions against former presidents."
Regarding the criticism that he is distancing himself from the so-called 'Taegukgi faction' for the sake of unity, Hwang rebutted, "Why would I not be interested in the Taegukgi faction? I am not neglecting them at all."
In response to the host's question, "'Crossing the river of impeachment' with lawmakers like Yoo Seung-min and uniting ultimately means acknowledging the impeachment, doesn't it?" he said, "Our current goal is not to judge our own rights and wrongs but to judge the rights and wrongs of this administration," adding, "It is right to unite and win first, then make other judgments."
Regarding the upcoming April 15 general election, he emphasized, "After judging the Moon Jae-in administration in the election, we should take time to reflect on ourselves," and said, "If we do not reflect, there is no future, but right now is the time to unite and fight to judge the Moon Jae-in administration."
