Recruiting 630 Participants for Dongdaemun-gu 'Urban Agriculture Experience Learning Center'

Applications open on district office website from February 3 to 14... One plot (approx. 4.6㎡) per household allowed... Participation fee 10,000 KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is recruiting participants for the '2020 Jungnangcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Learning Center' from February 3 to 14.

The recruitment fields and number of participants are △340 people aged 60 and over △40 people with disabilities △20 multicultural families △230 general participants, totaling 630 people. To allow more participants to experience urban agriculture, only one person per household can apply.

Any resident of Dongdaemun-gu can participate, and those wishing to participate can apply on the Dongdaemun-gu Office website (www.ddm.go.kr, Resident Participation > Online Application). The participation fee is 10,000 won.

If the number of applicants exceeds the planned number, participants will be selected through a computerized lottery, and the results will be posted on the district office website and individually notified in March.

Selected participants will be provided with one plot (approximately 4.6㎡) of a vegetable garden located on the riverside under Jang-an Bridge in Jungnangcheon at the 'Urban Agriculture Experience Learning Center.'

The 'Jungnangcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Learning Center' operates from April to the end of November. However, it will not operate during the peak summer months of July and August.

The district office plans to support participants by providing leafy vegetable seedlings, pest control, watering facilities, and fertilization to help them farm easily, and will regularly test soil and crops for heavy metal contamination to ensure safe food production.
