US United Airlines Reduces Flights to China

[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] United Airlines, a U.S. airline, has decided to temporarily suspend flights to Beijing and Shanghai, China, starting early next month.

According to CNBC on the 28th (local time), United Airlines announced that due to a significant decrease in passengers traveling to China amid the spread of the novel coronavirus, it will temporarily suspend flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong from February 1 to 8.

In a statement, United Airlines said, "We are continuously monitoring the situation and will adjust schedules as necessary." The U.S. issued a travel advisory on the 27th urging travelers to avoid travel to China.

Other U.S. airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, stated that they are not immediately reducing flights to China but are monitoring the situation.
