Oh Hyun-joo, spokesperson for the Justice Party, stated in a briefing on the 28th, "The facts revealed by the victim woman were nothing short of horrific. It was filled with typical examples of dating sexual violence, including non-consensual sex tantamount to rape, gaslighting, and misogynistic remarks."
Regarding Won's denial of the allegations in his resignation statement, where he said, "I am devastated to be branded as a scoundrel," "a woman I once loved," and "I will fight alone for the truth," Oh said, "Is he implying that the victim woman is lying? The press release, which contains no apology to the victim woman, can only be described as a deplorable response."
Spokesperson Oh added, "Above all, we cannot help but criticize the Democratic Party of Korea's verification system that openly promoted such a person as a recruited talent," and said, "Concerns related to Won had been circulating before the incident broke out. This means there was ample opportunity for verification. It is suspicious whether the ruling party's leadership took this issue lightly."
He continued, "The Democratic Party leadership must listen carefully to the victim woman's voice and deeply internalize it. From now on, I hope they thoroughly verify their talents to prevent further disappointment to the public."
