[Asia Economy Reporter Eun-gyeol Lee] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC) is strengthening support for companies' overseas expansion to foster global unicorn companies.
SBC announced this during the "Overseas Base Strategy Workshop for Establishing a Global Innovation Growth Support System for Small and Medium Ventures," held on the 28th and 29th at the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center in Mokdong, Seoul.
This year, SBC plans to actively nurture global unicorn companies by providing demand-oriented comprehensive services through various startup overseas expansion programs in collaboration with related organizations. Last year, it supported over 5,000 companies through overseas bases, achieving export performance of $7.4 billion.
SBC also plans to expand shared office infrastructure that small and medium ventures can use regularly by sharing and linking overseas office spaces it owns.
The workshop was attended by Acting Chairman Jo Jeong-gwon of SBC, along with 23 overseas base officers from 14 countries and about 50 overseas marketing personnel, who discussed collaboration methods between overseas bases and ways to generate results.
Acting Chairman Jo said, "We plan to share and link SBC support projects and resources to promote the global expansion of small and medium ventures and startups," adding, "We will fulfill our role as a central institution leading the national economy through innovative growth and export expansion of small and medium ventures."
