[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Aekyung Industrial Co., Ltd. (CEO Yoon-kyu Lee) announced on the 28th that its independently developed wrinkle improvement peptide (AK AW-PEP 2), made from peptides, has completed evaluation as a functional cosmetic ingredient for wrinkle improvement outside the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's notification.
The newly developed ingredient is a complex material combining peptides and natural antioxidant substances, enhancing wrinkle improvement efficacy and biocompatibility. It promotes skin collagen production, inhibits collagen-degrading enzyme activity, inhibits elastase enzyme activity, and confirmed wrinkle improvement effects through human application tests.
Aekyung Industrial plans to register the wrinkle improvement peptide in the International Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary (ICID) and develop functional cosmetics for wrinkle improvement applying this ingredient.
An Aekyung Industrial official said, "Through continuous research and development, we have achieved the result of possessing new independent ingredients beyond the functional cosmetic ingredients notified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety," adding, "It is more meaningful in that we have localized peptide materials through this new material development."
Aekyung Industrial developed the new material through three years of joint research with Anigen, a pharmaceutical and bio-material specialized company, under a national project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy that started in May 2016.
