All Three Suspected Patients in Busan Test Negative

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] On the 27th, a woman in her 30s from Busan showing suspected symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection, Wuhan pneumonia, was isolated at a university hospital and was released from isolation after testing 'negative.'

According to Busan City on the 28th, the suspected patient, Ms. A, was transferred to Busan National University Hospital on the afternoon of the 27th and isolated, after which she underwent a pan-coronavirus genetic test.

At around 1:30 a.m. on the 28th, the city confirmed from health authorities that Ms. A's pan-coronavirus test result was 'negative' and lifted the isolation measures for her.

A Busan city official stated, "Since it was confirmed that it is not Wuhan pneumonia, we recommended the hospital lift the isolation measures for Ms. A, but it seems that rest will be necessary until symptoms such as fever subside."

It was confirmed that Ms. A had been residing in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and entered the country on the 14th to visit her family for the holidays.

When Ms. A developed a fever close to 38 degrees Celsius on the 27th, she voluntarily reported to the Dongnae-gu Public Health Center in Busan at around 4:30 p.m. that day.

A Busan city official said, "We conducted infection tests on three Busan residents who had contact with Wuhan pneumonia patients or showed suspected symptoms, but fortunately, all of them tested 'negative.'"

Busan City has formed a 'Quarantine Countermeasures Team' and is operating a 24-hour emergency response system in cooperation with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
