[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Amid the spreading fear of the novel coronavirus infection originating from China (Wuhan pneumonia), it was reported on the 27th that two suspected patients have appeared in Daegu and are currently undergoing tests.

Kyungpook National University Hospital announced that at 10:30 PM that day, one male patient underwent an infection test at a screening clinic set up behind the emergency room, and another suspected patient is waiting for testing.

Once the tests are completed, the suspected patients will be quarantined.

The hospital stated that these individuals are not among the six people already under active monitoring by Daegu City, and they are patients who came from areas such as Gyeongbuk. Daegu City is currently monitoring six people who entered from China as active surveillance subjects. Those under active monitoring who remain at their residences receive fever checks twice daily at health centers.

A representative from Kyungpook National University Hospital said, "It is true that two suspected patients are waiting for tests," adding, "For detailed inquiries, please contact the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

The incubation period of the novel coronavirus, called Wuhan pneumonia, ranges from as short as 2 to 7 days to as long as 14 days.
